Best Amritsari Kulcha in Mumbai

Well you will be surprised to know that the Sainath Kulchas in Chembur(Mumbai) serve the  best Amritsari kulcha in India. I was shocked too but it is true. Being Delhi boy who has lived most of his life in the north was just surprised by the very authentic taste of the Kulcha. One fine day a close friend of mine invited me over to try out these Kulchas. I was like dude I am from north so I am not sure if these kulchas will be any good. I mean honestly I had no expectations from this place as Mumbai is popular for Vada Pav and Sea food. He took me to this place called Sainath Kulcha. This place is in Chembur Camp. If you guys are planning to go then reach Chembur Camp and ask for this place, it is inside a small lane.

Aloo Cheese Kulcha (Potato Cheese Stuffed Nan)

You get Aloo(Potato), Paneer(Cottage Cheese) and Mix Kulcha with the option of adding cheese in it. My favorite is and always will be Aloo Cheese Kulcha, it is a mixture of cheese, potato and gobi (Cauliflower). So you guys definitely try this one out.

So my friend took me and the place looked decent. It can accommodate 5-6 people at a time. You won't get to sit and will have to stand and eat most of the time. It is very popular and people travel from as far as 40 Kms to eat here. I was still thinking these guys are from Mumbai how would they know what a real Amritsari Kulcha will taste like. I saw him putting butter on the Kulchas and my dear friends this is how a Kulcha should be buttered. 

I ordered for Aloo Cheese Kulcha and my arrogance of from being north and blah blah was all proved wrong. It was really yummy. The flavor and taste was really authentic. The stuffing was perfect and the Chole that were served along with the Kulcha were also mind-blowing. This place was for real and has been awarded "The Best Kulchas Ever"

They use the best quality cheese and butter and they know how to make the Kulchas buttery and cheesy. The taste is authentic as it lies in a Sindhi colony and has been there for a long time. Few more places serve real authentic Punjabi food which is just surprising to find in Mumbai. This is a must try if you are visiting Mumbai.

Few Tips : 

1) Order 2 Kulchas at a time as orders keep coming in and you might have to wait a bit and it can be a bit irritating to wait when you have started eating.

2) Use Public Transport as you might face parking issues

3) Be patient at times lots of orders at a time and making a master piece takes time.

A disaster with Pasta for my Love!!

It was a fine Sunday morning I was half sleepy and the time was around 11 am. I could have slept till two. I mean that is what Sundays are meant for to sleep till afternoon. But my luck just changed from that moment on-wards. I got an angry text from my girlfriend "how could you forget our Anniversary" and that is when the hangover kicked in. There is a saying "Behind every Successful Hangover there is a promise of never drinking again". The nonstop pings of angry messages from her felt like sharp nails being hammered into my head. Well I had gone out partying with my office friends and I guess I partied too much and forgotten about it. I somehow managed to pacify her and said sweetheart let's not start our anniversary day with a fight and promised to make it up. Surprisingly she didn't stretch it which made me more worried. But that was not the only worry I had the bigger issue was lying in front of me was my empty wallet. I was broke to the core and how do I make it up to her. Well living alone can make you broke that you don't even know where the next meal is going to come. Well that was exactly my problem. I guess have to convert the last nights drinking session into an EMI. I have several of those at the moment. Well what to do to make it special and not really heavy on my pocket. Suddenly the Chef in me started telling me she loves Pasta in White Sauce and Garlic Bread. So I messaged her that come over as I am going to cook something special for her. She was excited and that is what I love about women they like simpler things and for them it is the effort that counts. I had earlier made a White Sauce Pasta and it was pretty nice for a first time attempt. So I was confident of nailing it the second time. I went to the supermarket to buy the ingredients. I must thank my mom for taking me to the supermarket with her to look for value for money deals. I was experienced in that department. I was the only guy among a group of middle aged women in the supermarket who was checking the price and deals of every item i wanted for my pasta.

Well I had bought almost all of the ingredients. Next I went to Dominos to buy the Cheesy garlic bread she just loves them. I could afford that much plus I could ask for lots of Oregano and Chili-Peppers with it. They were kind enough to give it to me. So I had chopped the vegetables, boiled the pasta and prepared the sauce. She had reached a bit earlier but the pasta was almost ready. She is a big foodie and must have been more excited the see what I had prepared than to meet me. She hugged me and kissed me and went straight to the kitchen. Everything seemed perfect and she looked impressed by the preparation. But luck just was not on my side that day. I had forgotten to add salt while boiling the pasta and now it just tasted bland. All my efforts went into vain. I tried to figure out something but I was no MasterChef anymore. It just looked good and I told her that it is bland and we can order out . But she was damn sweet she ate it and did not find anything wrong with it. She loved it as only my share must have been left. I took the leftover pasta to office; nobody touched it after a bite. Well she liked it and ate quite a handful so i was pretty much happy and till date she has not told me that the Pasta was bad.

PS - We are not dating anymore. She said it wasn't me it was her but i know it was the Pasta!!!

Best Chicken Burger in India!

Burger I guess is the most common and popular fast food after pizza. But finding a really nice burger can be a task. I am deeply madly in love with fast food and I just love Burgers. There is a saying that if 2 people are in love and been together for a long time they starting looking similar. Well, that is exactly the case with me. I love burgers and I look like one too. Well, I have been to Goa like 6 times in 4 years. It is quite convenient for somebody living in Mumbai to visit Goa. Take a night train and morning you will be in Goa. I and my childhood friends from Delhi have been going to Goa every year for the past 4 years. Goa is the only constant in our lives, so we make sure we spend an at-least week together in Goa. Well like the rest of the people go to Goa for beer, good food, scooter rides, chilling on the beach and parties. This time, it was a bit different as it was raining and we spent most of the time in the pool drinking beer. So one fine day we stepped out for food. We were on our way to Curlies when I say this place on the road that goes to Anjuna Beach called the "Burger Factory"

Shortcut to Heaven!!

Well, my friends did not find the place happening so they did not listen to me and we went to Curlies. But I was getting a positive vibe from that place. So a day later when my friends were heading to another well known happening place for lunch I stopped my scooty at Burger Factory. I messaged my friends that I will join them in a bit. The place had a variety of Burgers and I was just tempted to try them all.

At that time there was a big order for like 8-10 people so I had to wait for like at least 45 minutes for my burger to be prepared. I thought I will just tell my friends had stopped for some work on the way. But now that plan would have not worked. So I messaged them to continue with their lunch as I am at Burger Factory. Every time the burger was prepared I was just staring at it as if I have never seen a burger. Well, the fact is I have actually never seen such a beautiful looking burger. I am sure a lot of people must have had a bad stomach as I envied each and every burger which was getting made and was served to someone else. Finally, the big order got over and they started preparing my burger. You have to be patient when you order as it takes time for them to prepare it. Finally, the burger arrived and I my expression must have been similar to my Labrador when I used to put the chicken in his bowl. I took a bite and it was a party in my mouth. It was a pure shortcut to heaven. I had never tasted a burger so delicious my entire life. I almost cried with joy. I was getting a bad feeling for ditching my friends. But I forgot all about them. The best part is that they prepare everything fresh. The buns, the chips, and the patty everything was made to perfection. I told my friends about it and they all got excited like you guys must be right now. I took them to this place and they thank me till now for making them have this burger. I have been craving for this burger ever since. Have tried burgers at different places but have not found anything like this. So guys if you happen to go to Goa and do not try this Burger then your Goa trip is incomplete. If anyone of you is flying to Goa from Delhi then get a burger packed for me, please.

1) Exercise?? I thought you said extra fries! This one really cracks me up as me and lot of foodies can relate to it. I am not a fitness freak so I am sure can happen with me and many others. So guys be careful.

Speed Test not even starting on Full 3G signal

What full speed 3G speed i get

I am on roaming so i shifted to a 799 my plan and all the packages i have taken are for 3G data usage. Most of my work depends on Internet and that is the case with almost every one today. Specially for me as i earn my bread through internet so i hope you guys can understand how will it be for me not to have a working internet connection.

Recent Problems : 

1) On 18th December i had lodged a complaint- Issue was low 3g signals at my place and mostly 2G signals coming. It was shocking for me as i used to get full 3G speed at my home. I had lodged a complaint on 18th Dec and no call from your team/ Network Team for further inquiry. The Complaint is still open as of 22/12/14 7 PM IST . Well i guess it must be a joke for you guys not to take your job seriously but i do take my job seriously and my work has been suffering a hell lot since i work from home. 

2) On 20th Dec 2014 i get a SMS from airtel saying " You have consumed 100% of the bill shield value on your airtel mobile. Speed will now be revised" I was shocked on reading this SMS as normally get alerts on using 80% of Mobile Data. On checking my airtel app i saw approximately 1.8 GB 3G data left i thought must be a technical glitch at your end. So i went online to check if my 3g was working properly but no it was not. I called up customer care and explained them the issue their response was sir yes you have 1.8 GB data left so kindly ignore the message the speed will be back to normal in sometime just remember to switch off and switch on the mobile phone. Since that day i have been calling up airtel everyday to ask why is my 3g not working and the reply i get is  give us 24 hours . On 22/12/14 i called up airtel customer care and spoke to the executive around 6:30PM she told me that sir you have consumed 100% of your data as i can see on the system. I was shocked by this response so i sent a message to 121 to check my data usage and the reply was " You have used 3555 MB of 5400MB till 16:00 Hrs on 22/12/14. So on reading out the message i was told that sir the complaint on 18th Dec i still open! Hello Unprofessional set of people the complaint of 18th dec is open and i know that as it has not been resolved but what about this stupid issue of my 3G data not working at all in-spite of having roughly 1.8 GB left. 

Nothing has been done regarding my problem. If i have 3G data left and their is an issue with your back-end team which sent me a message that 3g data usage is 100% and speed will be revised somebody please go and tell them i have a lot of data left and kindly get my speed back to normal.

Mumbai to Diveagar Road Trip

Diveagar is approximately 170 Kilometers south of Mumbai along the western coast of India. I am deeply madly in love with this place for only one reason the drive from Diveagar to Shrivardhan. It is one of the best scenic views that I have seen in my life. I mean its just breath taking. One side Mountains, curvy roads similar to the ones you face in hill stations and other side is the Arabian sea. Just check out few images below for you guys to get a idea of what I am talking about as it cannot be described in words. 

Well you will be blown away by this place as it is totally clean, peaceful and easy on the pocket. Diveagar has got a white sand beach. The beach is clean and has a lot of fun activities when its not raining (non-monsoon season). Definitely try a bumper water ride, it scared the shit out of me. Also they give you a option to swim in the middle of the sea by paying few bucks extra. I was lucky enough i didn't had to pay extra for that swim as they needed their boat near the beach. So I was swimming in the middle of the sea for good 15 minutes. Though I had a option to say no, but why refuse a golden opportunity to miss it. It was very relaxing and you are wearing life jackets so its nothing to worry about and no sharks of course. Go to the beach 1 hour before sunset so that you can settle their and enjoy the sunset in peace. It has a lot of hotels but i would recommend the MTDC resort it is the best one their and the food is amazing. Mostly it is full so the second best I would recommend Shree-Ganesh. The drive from Mumbai is not that great as the national highways have single lanes, so avoid travelling at night, but in patches the view is one of the best you will find and just breath taking. 

The Chinese Rajma Chawal

Most of you who have lived their lives in Delhi must have eaten Chinese food at these Chinese food Vans.

Mostly people call in for home delivery or take parcel. This place is not for those who like authentic Chinese food. I am sure most of us can't eat authentic Chinese food. The food here is full on desi style Chinese and is spicy. I love the noodles, Chilly Chicken, Spring rolls and my favorite crispy is honey chilli potato which is surprisingly not available in Mumbai.  Anyways this post is not about the Chinese food it is about Rajma Chawal, yes you read it right Rajma Chawal. I was surprised when I got to know you get Rajma Chawal here in this particular place. So I went and gave it a try. They serve Rajma, Chawal, Fried Papad and Onions with Schezwan sauce.

They are absolutely delicious & spicy and i was actually sweating when I finished eating. So people who are not into spicy food stay away :)
